Hey Darren,

2 ways, 1 simple and 1 more complex!

1. Just filter off the bottom end. It's crude and doesn't give you the best vocal but it's sometimes usable, depending on the situation.

2. If you have an instrumental then you can phase cancel everything apart from the vocal. To do this, put the vocal version of the track on one audio track in Live and the instrumental on another audio track. Then, add the Utility effect to the instrumental track and click on the Phz-L and Phz-R switches at the bottom. Then, when you play both tracks together (providing the instrumental is identical to the vocal version but without a vocal), you'll just hear the vocal as everything else will cancel out. You can then route both these tracks to a return track and then set that return track as the input to a 3rd audio track, which you can then use to record the vocal. Slightly more complex but produces good results.
