I am a complete newbie to ableton. I am using an mpd32 with a Tascam us144 interface and would like to know how to get sound through headphones out of the us 144. i can play music from my pc and hear it through headphones. The mpd32 midi output doesnt work when connected usb and midi at the same time. I read something about activating "midi echo" but just unable to find where to do that.

You need to set up the preferences properly. This is covered right at the start of our Live beginners course - you click on the audio tab for audio and the MIDI tab for MIDI. Under the audio tab, providing you've installed the drivers for the tascam, you can select it as the input and output device for audio in and out of Live. Then, under the MIDI tab, in the bottom section, you can set the input and output routing for the mpd32 MIDI ports. The remote column is the one to activate as this allows full control of devices.
Cheers, Rob
