Hi Producers,
Side chain compression is a typical technique used in dance music. You can use it to duck sounds from a side chain trigger such as bass, pads, leads, sweeps etc. A typical example would be when the kick is triggered it would duck the bass making the kick punch through the mix. The trigger could also come from a drum loop over a pad for example. It is a very easy technique to set up, although this video is for Logic the same principles apply for all other compressors with a sidechain input including real outboard compressors. Try experimenting. Video supplied by SFLogicNinja http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfWJKO0BJUc&hl=en_GB&fs=1 royalty free loops, samples and sounds from Loopmasters – the sample boutique. |
