you guys know if there is any way of extracting a clean vocal sample? For example the song has drums, bass, singer, hats, etc....

Is there a machine or way to just extract the singer part but not the other sounds?

Thanks,

David

check out http://www.acapellas4u.co.uk/ there's tutorials on how to do that sorta thing, or you can just have a look to see if you can find the vocal you want.

Hey David,

If you have an instrumental version of a song then you can extract the vocal by phase reversing the instrumental version (using the invert device in the Utilities folder in Live) and playing it at the same time as the vocal version. Providing the versions are identical apart from the vocal then everything else will cancel out.

If you don't have an instrumental version then you can try filtering to roll off the bottom and maybe a little of the top end. This has been good enough for me on a couple of remixes - obviously you get a lot of the other parts left over with the voice, but the most intrusive ones like the bass and lower frequency drums are removed.

The acapella site looks useful too!

How can you not relate to ghetto people when that’s the rawest form of blackness? Even though it’s not a good place in regards to the economy and how bad people have it in the neighborhood, the realism’s there, and that’s what we were born out of.
